The above is a table of information of the last 43 earthquakes recorded by the National Seismological Service (UNAM), until May 3, 2012. Need to add 7 more on May 1rst. Making a collection: on May 3 were 19 earthquakes, on May 2, we have14, and may 1rst, 16.   Now you can understand why I said I was shaky yesterday.  You can get more information on www2.ssn.unam.mx where you´ll find more information, maps, history and many interesting facts about this phenomenon.

I will not always give so much information, but only the reference and abstract. Now you have the source. What I share is how we feel “ordinary people” (citizens), as I do interviews with many people of different socio-economic and cultural level, in order to reflect our mood in the most accurate possible way. I conclude: WE FEAR.

Regarding the volcano Popocatepetl, “we dropped the ashes” in Mexico City: I can´nt think how bad the people who live in the states of Morelos and Puebla and other villages nearby Don Goyo are feeling.

The weather here is hot and dry, windy, sun struggling to pass the layer of ash, which give the sky a pale gray tone. Usually it is rare to see a blue sky with white clouds here in Mexico City. When you arrive by air during the day, it is easy to observe a brown layer covering most of the city, a phenomenon also seen from the road Cuernavaca-Mexico, in the “Mirador“, before reaching Topilejo.

Among the air quality, hydrocarbons and other pollutants, I say people who live here are mutants. We have developed a series of antibodies that allow us to survive adverse conditions, but do not know it will be the price we are going to pay  in the future. We take some medicine against amoebas (Entamoeba histolytica and colli) and worms, every six months, no matter if we don´nt have symptoms or allergies.

This does not mean that tourists are going to get sick for a few days they are here visiting, if they take care to only drink bottled water, do not eat any food at the street, only in well know restaurants; do not eat fruit that you are not used to, and / outside season fruit (mangos before the rain stars for example), wash their hands before, during and after (as I say  as a joke), bring along a sanitizer and use it often.

Well, my friends, you can come with confidence. You are not going to get sick. And, if you move into the tourist enviroment  with caution (as in any megalopolis), and not go into populated neighborhoods or stay until last hours outside walking alone, you will not suffer any assault. We wait your visit with open arms.

Now we are locked, “encenizados, tosientos y tembleques”, (ashes, cough, shake) as used to say Nana Soledad   What’s next?
